SSM Health Exercise Specialist in Bridgeton, Missouri

Role Purpose:

This position provides exceptional patient care to the bariatric patient by effective coaching and education through protocols and communication with the multidisciplinary team within and outside of the Executive Health, to achieve exceptional clinical outcomes and physician and patient satisfaction.


  • Contributes to exceptional clinical outcomes by collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement exercise programs that allow patients/gym members to effectively achieve and maintain physical fitness.

  • Enhances safety by following infection control and safety guidelines and by educating patients/gym members in safe and effective ways of exercising.

  • Contributes to employee and physician satisfaction through effective communication with all members of the interdisciplinary team and participation in staff meetings.

  • Contributes to the financial performance and growth of the Executive Health by managing member payments and by maintaining enrollment at a level that will support financial viability.

  • Enhances patient satisfaction by working with the multidisciplinary team in all aspects of patient education and support throughout the patient's continuum of care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Exercise Science or related field or Bachelor's Degree and Certified Personal Trainer

  • CPR and BLS certification

Physical Requirements:

Employees in this position are, or can be, required to possess the following physical capabilities:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs.

  • Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily

  • Standing or walking more than 8 hours a day

  • Running to respond to patient emergencies

  • Reaching, grasping, fingering, and/or feeling more than 8 hours a day

  • Visual acuity in order to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection; able to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.

  • Audio acuity in order to correctly distinguish various body sounds (i.e., respirations, heart tones, bowel sounds).

  • Audio acuity to discern sounds made by various types of machinery or equipment that would indicate dangerous or improper operation
