Why is the Business Intelligence Solutions Analyst critical?

This role combines data analysis expertise with design acumen to create understandable insights from large datasets. You will iterate with our stakeholders to prototype solutions and shepherd those prototypes into hardened production assets. The solutions you help create are disrupting healthcare. Although this is an IT role, it has a significant business focus.

We emphasize simple, elegant design. Our products include data models, data tools, reports, dashboards and infographics. All are built to drive action.

This is a Tier III Analyst position in the Data Engineering department.

  • Designing and building data visualizations and analyzing data systems

  • Telling a simple, compelling data-driven story

  • Leading the customer down a solution journey

  • Effectively communicating across teams and functions: from Engineers to Clinicians

Day-to-Day Functions:

  • Functional Prototype Development

  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand their needs and objectives.

  • Match those objectives to available data/information to clarify and refine potential solution opportunities. Mix of data analysis, critical thinking, problem solving and customer iteration

  • Select, clean, construct, integrate, and format data to build functional prototypes. Iterate on prototypes through evaluations with business stakeholders to build both data and business understanding. Involves heavy use of SQL, Tableau, Excel.

  • Lock in prototypes as viable solution candidates. Work with Engineering counterparts to de-construct the prototype into component parts.

  • Solution Construction

  • Reconfigure analytic prototypes to make them ready for enterprise deployment, incorporating performance, security, and data quality standards.

  • Align data visualizations to UI/UX standards for production assets.

  • Coordinate internal QA, UAT, and end-to-end testing in prep for launch.

  • Assist in building a backlog of actionable work to achieve a defined business value through data insights and analytics

  • Collaborate with Engineers on presentation tier work required to scale prototypes. Examples: security configuration (content level, row level), integration into existing dashboard/visualization portfolio.

  • Provide or support the creation of user guides and other necessary documentation to memorialize the intended purpose and use of the asset.

What you will need to be successful in this role….

  • Required:

  • Demonstrated strong SQL skills in reading data from a relational database for purposes of data analysis and analytical modeling, including complex query construction and optimization.

  • One year experience with Tableau in an enterprise context.

  • Three years’ experience with data visualization tools, such as Qlik, MicroStrategy, Cognos, SSRS, OBIEE or similar.

  • Preferred:

  • Additional computer skills that support data manipulation, such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, advanced Excel / Access, and similar tools.

  • Working knowledge of descriptive, inferential, and machine learning statistical techniques.

  • Passion to discover data-driven solutions that solve business problems within a healthcare setting.

  • Fluency with Business Analysis core techniques: modeling, use cases/user stories and facilitation to move from ambiguity to a solution.

  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
