Job Summary

LASP encourages applications for a Training, Diversity, and Inclusion Specialist to develop the LASP workforce learning and development strategy, manage its implementation and measure its impact. Strategize and execute programs that will build an effective managerial career development training program, and enhance a diverse and inclusive work environment at LASP.

Who We Are

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) began in 1948, a decade before NASA. We are the world’s only academic research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with managers and LASP leadership.

  • Develop individualized and group training programs that address specific business needs.

  • Implement effective and purposeful training methods. Create a curriculum to facilitate strategic training based on the organization’s goals.

  • Conduct stand-up training, as needed.

  • Select and manage training resources, including working with both CU and training vendors to develop and deliver training.

  • Research and advise LASP leadership on diversity and inclusion issues and create programs to build an environment of diversity in the workplace

  • Support recruiting activity to help ensure the development of diverse pools of candidates for LASP job openings.

  • Serve as liaison to LASP Diversity and Climate Committee.

  • Stay ahead of training, and diversity and inclusion trends, developments and standard methodologies, and implements as appropriate.

  • Develop metrics to assess the success of training, and diversity and inclusion programs.

  • Represent LASP as a subject matter expert contact on Training, and Diversity and Inclusion projects.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, training development, or related field.

  • At least five years of training and diversity program development and implementation experience.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to design effective and engaging training programs.

  • Knowledge of current training and diversity best practices.

  • Strong, strategic problem-solving skills.

  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with co-workers and peers.

  • Ability to handle difficult situations and complex group dynamics.

  • Outstanding communication skills with particular ability to communicate information in a clear, concise, diplomatic and professional manner. The ability to decide what method of communication is best for the many diverse groups that exist at LASP is imperative.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Attention-to-detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • A passion for continuous learning.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
