The Fischer Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a Structural Biology Lab that combines molecular biology, computational biology, structural biology and chemistry with various ‘Omics’ techniques such as proteomics to study the pathways and protein complexes involved in the regulation of protein abundance via cellular degradation systems that are often associated with human diseases, including cancer. Using our knowledge of the cellular degradation machinery, we use structure and computational guided approaches to develop new molecules that hijack the ubiquitin proteasome system for targeted protein degradation.
The Fischer Lab (https://fischerlab.dana-farber.org/) seeks a highly motivated individual to join the team as a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW who will work on various mass spectrometry-based proteomics projects such as:
Targeted detection of proteins and post-translational modifications
Cross-linking mass spectrometry for studying protein structure and protein-protein interactions
Deep shotgun proteomics of whole cell proteomes
Our laboratory is based at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Longwood Center and is an affiliate of the BCMP department at Harvard Medical School, and part of Dana-Farber’s Center for Protein Degradation. Join our highly interactive team of scientists, postdocs, graduate students and technicians to work on testing and creating new avenues of therapeutic intervention.
Proteomics-based method development
Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports, presentations, grant and publication preparation
Maintains detailed notebook of all work-related activities
Collaborates with other lab members for the development, modification and improvement of standard operating procedures
Recent Ph.D. or equivalent degree
Good understanding of statistics
Experience in sample preparation for mass spectrometry-based proteomics
Ability to collect and analyze experimental data, prepare research publications and communicate results
Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment
Experience with R, MATLAB, python and general computational abilities
