Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Project Manager II - Clinical Pathways in Boston, Massachusetts

The Project Manager II will be responsible for assisting the Pathways Operations Manager in driving the implementation of Dana-Farber Clinical Pathways across the DFCI enterprise. The Department is responsible for the development, support and implementation of internal and system-wide programs (medical neighborhood) to improve communication and coordination between the different players in the system and create a platform to support the management of Oncology patients during the continuum of care.

The Clinical Quality Improvement Department aims to foster innovation and lead change in our current cancer care delivery model through new ways to provide care of patients that include clinical decision support, innovation, improved care coordination, team engagement, follow-up and communication among all different players and tying new payment methodologies to align incentives.

This position requires not only being familiarized with clinical care models, population management, treatment of oncology diagnoses, institutional structure, strategy planning and implementation, data analytics, IT infrastructure and development, and leveraging big data sources (clinical and administrative) to manage the oncology population.

  • Serve as Project Manager II of Dana-Farber Pathways initiative

  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative information; translate brainstorming into thoughtful organized presentation slides utilizing charts, graphs and images to appropriately display the information

  • Develop the analytic and measurement strategy for all projects undertaken including development of key metrics, identification of data sources and collection of baseline data.

  • Develop project work plans for review and manage key tasks/sections within the work plan, coordinating with other departments and identifying potential issues

  • Populate and maintain status reports, issue and decision logs, and timelines

  • Develop meeting materials (e.g., agendas, presentations, etc.) and other written materials

  • Schedule, attend, and/or facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders

  • Presents to senior leaders

  • Skilled in leading without authority

This position is expected to last approximately two years and once the project is completed the incumbent may apply for other positions at Dana-Farber.

This is a Benefit eligible position.

  • MPH or MBA-Health track preferred

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Strong knowledge and skills in change management

  • Effective implementation strategy

  • Organizational structure and politics

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in healthcare administration. (financing, strategic planning) &/or health policy research preferred

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills

  • Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required

  • Project management experience required.

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently

  • Strong writing skills; ability to creatively use tables, graphs, charts to translate words into pictures

  • Strong results orientation, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a complex, deadline-driven environment
