Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Deerfield Management have entered a multi-year collaboration to create the Center for Protein Degradation (CPD) at DFCI led by Drs. Fischer and Gray. The goals of the Center for Protein Degradation are to create a next-generation protein degrader platform and interrogate and advance a large portfolio of protein degrader targets. The Center is seeking an experienced and resourceful Lab Operations Manager to support streamlined and efficient lab activities. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a newly founded research center that is pushing the boundaries of targeted protein degradation research and accelerating the translation of basic science into clinical solutions.
Work with scientific, operational, and administrative staff within and external to the Center to identify lab operations issues/needs (e.g., equipment, space, etc.) and develop solutions to resolve them
Use knowledge of institutional processes, policies, and guidelines to get things done creatively and quickly
Implement, maintain, and improve standard procedures for lab efficiencies. Ensure good laboratory practice through training and guidance of technicians and trainees
Assist with the orientation of scientific staff and train staff to use lab equipment. Ensure lab staff are compliant with all mandatory trainings.
Oversee lab supplies/stock inventory maintenance and ordering
Oversee the maintenance and repair of lab equipment. Perform back-ups of data on shared equipment
Manage lab protocols and distribute and catalogue laboratory notebooks
Obtain and manage MTAs, software licenses, service contracts, and other documentation.
Coordinate lab moves/prepare new space
The CPD Lab Manager must fulfill the following requirements:
BS (8+ years), MS (5+ years) or PhD (2+ years) in chemical or biomedical sciences with experience in lab management/operations or similar function in industry or academic setting
Experience in management of a large research laboratory (> 20 FTEs). Familiarity with cancer research laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, safety, compliance, and record keeping
Excellent problem solving, organizational, quantitative, and analytic skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task to support concurrent projects in a complex and fast-paced environment
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to collaborate with scientific and business colleagues at various levels
Strong written and oral communication skills
This is a 40 hour per week position.
