We need you to help us tell that story. As our Director of Social Media, you’ll use our social platforms to build affinity around the Cengage brand, encourage customer loyalty and communicate in an authentic and personal way with current and potential customers, both students and instructors.

You’ll use your deep understanding of social media to lead a team of three people and develop strategies that are customized for particular platforms. You will oversee social media governance for the entire company and help our employees become even stronger advocates for Cengage. Working closely with the content, paid media, demand generation, advocacy and portfolio marketing teams, you will be a strategic partner bringing creative ideas to the marketing organization. And you’ll bring your killer analytical skills to measure and improve our impact.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop coordinated, enterprise-wide social media strategy

  • Manage a team of social media specialists to execute effectively on strategy

  • Work in conjunction with stakeholders to deliver appropriate social media strategy and execution recommendations in support of their program goals

  • Develop and socialize corporate social media governance and policies

  • Collect and disseminate social media best practices

  • Oversee social media measurement, including the design and operation of relevant dashboards and reports

  • Engage in regular social media listening/monitoring

  • Manage the selection and implementation of specific social media technologies

  • Monitor and evaluate relevant industry activity or trends in social media to inform internal stakeholders and decision making

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • BA/BS degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of B2B and B2C social media experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership/management experience

  • Strategy planning: ability to outline goals, define your target audience and know what platforms will help you scale your efforts

  • Tactics and execution: attention to detail to maintain day to day accurate execution of the required tactics

  • Community management: Monitoring and responding to posts and engaging with brand advocates, knowing how to respond to trolls and negative feedback

  • Understanding how content works on a social web: knowing what content works and what doesn't on social networks

  • Optimizing content and technology: knowing how to guide a customer down a sales funnel and optimizing content for SEO

  • Creative mindset: providing creative content that engages with your customer and touches their hearts and not just their minds

  • Writing skills: Structuring your text for easy reading online

  • Expertise on digital marketing trends

  • Analytical skills

  • Leadership and communication skills
