Summary

The Associate, Commercial Banking Relationship Manager manages and assists with the growth of a very large and very complex portfolio of commercial loans. S/he prospects for and closes new business relationships and retains and expands relationships with existing customers. The incumbent sells appropriate Company products and services prospects and clients, identifying and successfully capitalizing on cross-sell opportunities and making appropriate referrals. Approves loans within assigned limits, managing loan and portfolio credit quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acts as support coverage for Senior Relationship Managers with the growth of clients

  • Assists in the management of loan and portfolio credit quality

  • Grows revenue, as directed by senior management, by successfully prospecting new business and making appropriate referrals

  • Maintains portfolio by calling on existing customers to expand existing business, ensure excellent client relations and proper servicing of account(s)

  • Negotiates credit arrangements and prepares credit memoranda and supporting documentation for presentation to the loan committee

  • Responsible for generation of pitch books

  • Responsible for handling some clients on their own

  • Serves a conduit for all product lines and matches client needs with appropriate products

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, in business, finance, economics, or equivalent field, or equivalent work experience

  • 5-9 years of relevant lending, credit, sales or financial services experience

  • Ability to prospect and network at various levels within a company

  • Advanced knowledge of bank systems to support a commercial portfolio

  • Demonstrates ability to manage time effectively to balance new and existing relationships to meet goals

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Demonstrates knowledge of bank products, services, and bank operations

  • Demonstrates proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Expertise in Commercial Loan structuring and documentation

  • Strong attention to detail in order to maintain high level of data integrity

  • Strong comfort and familiarity with use and application of commercial lending principles

  • Strong customer service and telephone skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Communicates in a timely and straightforward manner

  • Probes for additional information, clarifies assumptions and confirms agreed-upon actions

  • Keeps everyone involved and informed about progress and issues

  • Stays current with industry and regulatory trends and emerging risk issues
