The Internal GrainMarketing Advisor is part of a grain consulting team focused on helping ourgrain marketing service clients make better grain marketing decisions whileadding value to Cargill’s core business. The Internal Advisor will be an integral role of delivering valueproactively and timely through frequent and planned discussions with ourclients primarily over the phone or in person at the location. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor is primarilyaccountable for updating client’s individual situation and marketing plan,informing clients of marketing opportunities, and executing client strategiesand risk management contracts. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will workclosely with their External Grain Marketing Advisor team member and providesecondary support by assisting with prospecting activities and face to face meetings.
70% The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will deliver CargillAg Marketing Services to our farm clients over the phone or in the office. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor willhelp customers meet their grain marketing objectives by using the core productdeliverables to better understand the client’s account, providing individualclient impact from the market reports on a bi-weekly basis and executing theentry and exit of the correct risk management tools. The internal advisor plays a key role inclient retention. The Internal GrainMarketing Advisor will execute the Cargill Leadership Expectations and otherbest practices.
15% TheInternal Grain Marketing Advisor, in coordination with the External Advisor,will also assist when beneficial in selling Cargill Ag Marketing Services tofarm customers. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will also conduct face toface meetings with clients especially when clients are close to the InternalGrain Marketing Advisors location.
15% The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will work andcommunicate proactively with the External Grain Marketing Advisor and will keepthe client’s Farm Marketer or Origination Specialist informed of services thatare being provided and new sales opportunities that arise. The Internal GrainMarketing Advisor will also play a key role working with the origination teamand locations teams on grain related activities at the office, whereappropriate.
PhysicalEffort: The InternalGrain Marketing Advisor will work in an office environment approximately70- 80%of the time. They will travel to customer’s place of business in customermeetings approximately 10-20% of the time. 10% of the time will be spent participating and traveling to Cargillmeetings. This role will spend a large amount of time on the phone, in meetingswith customers and working with computers and various software and spreadsheets.This role will not be involved in operations at a facility.
PhysicalEnvironment: The InternalGrain Marketing Advisor on occasion will required to travel to customer’sbusiness by personal vehicle.As well the role will be required to travelto various meetings/functions throughout the Region. Air travel may be required to attend meetingsand training sessions. Prolonged periodsof working on the computer and speaking to customers (telephone and in person)are to be expected in this role.
SensoryAttention: The InternalGrain Marketing Advisor role will be required to handle many different customerneeds at one time. Excellent timemanagement and planning will be required for this role to be successful. Staying up to-date on market conditions byreading, engaging in learning and seeking out informationwill be a key component to this role being successful. Visual, auditory andlinguistic aptitude is necessary to be successful in this role.
MentalStress: Thisrole is expected to be the champion of Grain Marketing Services and achievebudget expectations. Customer expectations will add to the stress level of thisrole. The customer is paying for andexpecting someone who is “up on the markets” and has an understanding of whatthat means to their individual situation. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will be responsible for theirbudget and will need to engage the Location and Regional team and theirExternal Grain Marketing Advisor to help them reach their goals. Cargill AgMarketing Service will provide information, trends, and insight but it will bethe Grain Marketing Advisor who will need to decipher it and deliver theappropriate solutions to the customer. The Internal Grain Marketing Advisor will be expected to assist theGrain Marketing and Location team with some problem solving and discoverylearning.
4 years of business experience
Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management.
Good working knowledge of grain futures, options and markets.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Excellent knowledge of production agriculture and farm management.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to work in team environment
Possess or able to obtain Series 3/30 Licenses within 90 days of start date
Ability to travel 80% of the time in territory
Excellent comprehension of Cargill’s Risk Management Tools.
3 Years working inside the Grain and Futures Industry
3 Years business to business sales experience.
Related Post-secondary education or training.
Excellent organizational skills
Strong computer skills and attention to detail to create and maintain spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
