The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is recruiting for Clinical Specialists (Physician Assistantor Nurse Practitioner). Current openings are located at State Hospital North (Orofino). These positions cover patient care duties, administrative, and documentation duties.

- Performs preliminary screening and diagnosis of medical conditions including comprehensive examination of mental health patients
- Conducts physical examination and orders appropriate laboratory tests and x-rays; orders treatment and consultation as determined by the physician
- Consults with specialists concerning specific medical problems of patients
- Prescribes psychotropic medications and orders drugs for specific therapy regimens
- Evaluates psychosocial behavior patterns of patients
- Performs secondary screening and diagnosis of psychiatric conditions
- Performs on-going evaluation of severe and persistent mentally ill
- Advises physician of psychiatric history, treatment, prescriptions, and medical regimens
- Provides face-to-face and phone intervention, evaluation, treatment, and referral for psychiatric emergencies
- Makes referrals to other mental health services and/or to other support services in the community
- Eligibility for registration as Physician Assistant with the Board of Medicine or Nurse Practitioner with the Board of Nursing

State Hospital North, Orofino: SHN is a 55-bed adult psychiatric hospital located in North Central Idaho. Our hospital employs approximately 137 full- and part-time staff. Orofino, a small, friendly community located on the Clearwater River and at 1,000 ft. elevation, offers year-round recreational opportunities. Summer and fall offer the finest in Steelhead and Chinook salmon fishing, and you'll have immediate access to the Clearwater National Forest. State Hospital South, Blackfoot: SHS is Idaho's largest psychiatric hospital, and is a Joint Commission accredited, state-of-the-art 135-bed facility. SHS provides acute and long-term inpatient care for adults with severe mental illness; in addition to the treatment of adolescents and adult patients, the SHS campus includes a five-star rated Skilled Nursing Facility (CMS, Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and employs approximately 335 full- and part- time staff. Region 7 Behavioral Health, Idaho Falls: Region 7 is located in Idaho Falls (Southeast Idaho), and includes an outpatient facility serving patient in a nine-county area. The Division of Behavioral Health provides mental health services through Regional Mental Health Centers located in each of the seven geographical region of the state. Each Center provides mental health services through a system of care that is both community-based and consumer-guided.
