Job SummaryActs as a business partner to Sales Management and Representatives on assigned accounts by providing pricing insights and recommendations to develop and implement optimal customer pricing. Support the development and continual improvement of tools, policies, and procedures to enhance the customer pricing experience and business performance. Perform price modeling for the organizations products in order to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives. Evaluate effectiveness of pricing strategies and modify pricing structure as needed. Evaluate existing contracts for compliance issues. The incumbent is the "Pricing Owner" of the contract - interacting with all internal facets of the business and building a rapport with the sales owner and customer themselves to ensure the optimization of profitability and compliance of each contract.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • Analyzes, evaluates, models, and implements pricing to improve profitability within compliance guidelines of contract, working with internal and external customers to execute.

  • Evaluates existing contracts for compliance issues and owns resolution process with sales internal customers

  • Provides support and makes recommendations to regional sales managers, sales representatives & global account directors in regards to contracts, pricing and quoting.

  • Analyzes complex RFP/RFQ’s with account owners to ensure margin protection and ability to comply upon contract award. This would include compilation and manipulation of historical data.

  • Analyzes rebates for margin improvement opportunities and interact with field, suppliers, category managers, customers to implement.

  • Develops, maintains and produces tools to perform internal audits of various contract components.

  • Evaluates and implements updates to contracts based on corporate driven changes and initiatives (price change from supplier).

  • Identifies potential product conversions that meet the customer s goals and improve margins.

  • Analyzes contract history to drive private label initiative.

  • Provides direction and recommendations to sales partners regarding the annual customer price change process for assigned accounts

  • Analyzes complex pricing agreements to make sure the agreement can be implemented and supported with 100% compliance prior to finalization.

  • Develops and produces metrics for tracking various contract components (margin, freight, operation) and detailed, custom reports of same.

  • Takes ownership of professional development and grows knowledge of Avantor systems and pricing processes

  • Performs other duties and related work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field or equivalent experience required

  • 3+ years applicable experience

  • Prior experience in pricing, marketing, contract management and/or finance

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Ability to be a project leader/self-starter

  • Must be proficient in MS Office; Excel & Access with strong computer/data entry skills

  • Build a knowledge base of Avantor's business and become the go-to person for all internal departments

  • Must be able to work independently and be a contributing team player

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
