Position Overview:

The Pediatric Social Worker provides assessment of the needs of patients and families. The position also provides the pediatric patients and families with emotional and resources support. The Peds Social Worker provides counseling regarding the dying process. The Peds Social Worker will be required to travel to Cook, DuPage & Kane counties.

Required Experience:

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education

  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Valid Auto Insurance

  • Minimum of 1-year pediatric clinical experience

  • Ability to demonstrate sound clinical judgement with minimal supervision

  • Ability to function independently, organize and prioritize

  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and maintain a calming, professional presence in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions

  • Ability to maintain organizational confidentiality, which includes but is not limited to information about patients/families, volunteers, employees, donors and Agency processes

  • Flexibility to embrace change and effectively shift priorities

  • Communication skills, verbal and written

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Must have the ability to travel to Cook, DuPage & Kane counties

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

  • Knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations

  • Minimum of 1-year pediatric clinical experience, preferably in an acute care or hospice setting
