_Unit Description:__ * _* 4 Central is a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. This unit also houses the post cardiac cath patients. The patient population consists of adults and geriatric patients with a wide variety of diagnoses. This unit provides care to telemetry patients.
The unit provides a system of self-scheduling that enables opportunity for staff to choose their working days.
The 4 South Manager maintains 24-hour accountability for the supervision, coordination and evaluation of activities of the staff of the medical surgical/telemetry nursing unit, 4 South. Ensures patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physicians and the Hospital policy and procedures. Coordinates the organizational improvement activities of the nursing unit. Oversees the development, review and revision of policies, procedures and practices guidelines. Assists the Director in overseeing the financial operation of the department. Maintains knowledge of current practice standards with regards to care of the medical-surgical / telemetry patient.
LEVEL OF FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required: BSN or Master’s Degree is preferred.
*LICENSED/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED? *_ X _ YES
* Registered Nurse license by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. If compact license held, RN is required to obtain a Texas RN license within 90 days of their hire date. * BLS certification from the American Heart Association. * ACLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
*EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: *Five years experience as a Registered Nurse, at least two of which must include management experience.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Telemetry/cardiology experience strongly preferred.
