A Professional Research Assistant (PRA) full-time position is available to work in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Dempsey who is the Director of the Organoid and Tissue Modeling program in the Section of Developmental Biology, Department of Pediatrics.

_Nature of Work:_
This PRA position is associated with the Organoid core and will be directly involved in the generation, characterization and application of mouse and human 3D organoids produced from both adult and pluripotent stem cells.
_Examples of Work Performed:_
Generation, characterization and biobanking of organoids produced from mouse and patient-derived tissues
Cell culture work including general maintenance of adult organoids
Development of 3D organoid assays
Application of human pluripotent stem cell programming to generate 3D organoids
PCR/qPCR, immunohistochemical staining, organoid imaging
Development of new techniques/assays associated with organoid cultures
Able to work independently but also able to communicate and assist researchers in other laboratories.
General laboratory maintenance including ordering supplies, receiving laboratory reagents, and making stock solutions
PLEASENOTE: Candidates may be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is$37,000-$43,000 and iscommensurate with skills and experience.

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (preferably in Molecular/Cellular Biology)
Minimum of 12 months of research lab experience. Note: educational experience will not substitute for prior professional experience.
Proven expertise in mammalian cell cultures and sterile technique.
Prior experience with 3D organoid stem cell cultures and software and analysis
Prior experience with pluripotent stem cell cultures
Prior experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, PCR and qPCR, transfection and transduction, cell-based growth and apoptosis assays)
Experience with histology and immunostaining (immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence)
Demonstrated organizational skills, excellent communication skills including detailed record keeping, report writing and excel database management
Detail oriented, willingness to learn and motivated to troubleshoot technical problems
Able to work independently or in a team environment
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Be self-driven, able to multi-task and be detail oriented.
Able to use Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software to collect and present data.
Able to conducts experiments independently or with other laboratory personnel and can communicate with and assist researchers in other laboratories.
Conditions of Employment:
Candidate may be required to work hours outside of normal business hours as well as weekends.
· Must be willing and able to successfully pass a 10-panel drug test
· Must be willing and able to successfully pass a national criminal background check
