These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Procure blood from patients by venipuncture, fingerstick or heelstick toobtain blood samples for analysis following age-specific guidelines.Ensures patient is correctly identified through the hospital registrationsystem, accounts numbers are current and correct tests are ordered; checksrequisitions for data entry errors and resolves questionable orders in atimely manner.Accurately prepares specimens for distribution and analysis according tolaboratory procedures.Creates hospital registration encounters.Responds in a timely manner to patient/customer needs, including promptattention to pneumatic tubes, customer deliveries, patient wait times andphone calls.Performs laboratory functions according to guidelines established byregulatory agencies, including familiarization with regulations and qualityindicators.Performs reagent, inventory and general maintenance, as required.May perform waived testing according to guidelines and documents qualitycontrol appropriately.Other InformationSCOPE AND LEVELGuidelines: Developmental, standard, or intermediate level.
