The Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for leading design and development activities on shifting system (wet clutches) in new and current transmissions.The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:•Design and develop technical requirements of transmissionsowertrain components and subsystems•Develop DFMEAs and access designs for failure modes robustness•Develop DVPR plans to validate design changes•Develop tools, test procedures and pass-fail acceptance criteria for transmission components•Develop and update design guidelines/best practices for shifting system components•Collaborate appropriate design detailing and CAE activities for design updates and or new designs•Generate and implement cost reduction ideas•Participate in warranty/cost reduction meetings and develop solutions for warranty issues•Determine root causes for failures and implementation of appropriate corrective actions•Attend conferences or technical seminars addressing state-of-the-art designs and techniques and communicate learnings to senior management•Participate and contribute to increasing organizational capabilities for powertrain design and development activities•Conduct root cause analysis of transmission failures and identify the root cause•Collaborate with transmission systems group to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes•Support manufacturing on production related issues•Collaborate with suppliers to develop robust, cost effective manufacturing options for transmission components•Provide guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the appropriate change management systemBasic Qualifications:•Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university•10 years of related product design and development experience with a minimum of 3 years in transmissions experience•Proficient in understanding and applications of wet multi disk clutches in transmissions•Basic understanding of transmission operation and the interaction between planetary gears, hydraulics, electro-mechanical components with clutches•Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)•Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills•Basic end user capability to interface with software for modeling and detailing engineering prints•Thorough understanding on FEA and Proactive and Reactive problem solving engineering tools (DFSS, Red-X, Statistics, and Reliability etc.)•Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)•Highly motivated, self-directed, have the ability to manage multiple complex projects•Strong sense of urgency, customer focus and drive for resultsPreferred Qualifications:•Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university in an engineering related field and over 10 years of technical work experience•Working knowled
