Emory University Supervisor, Paint Shop in Atlanta, Georgia

Description

  • Oversees day-to-day operations and production for the Paint Shop, providing expert training and supervision in all methods of surface preparations and protections, product applications, color mixing and matching, and finish selections.

  • Inspects buildings, facilities and equipment to ascertain required repairs and determines the best course of action.

  • Approves material requisitions for products and supplies, orders tools and equipment required for the shop and special projects.

  • Reviews and assigns work orders to staff; monitors work orders for status changes, delays and completion.

  • Prepares, reviews, and oversees painting contracts and ensures the work contracted is completed within the Emory University standards.

  • Administers departmental budget, ensuring it remains within fiscal constraints.

  • Reviews and analyzes reports that summarize achievement of key performance measures.

  • Coordinates project activities with Zones and Central Shops, Interior Design and building occupants to ensure a proper level of integration for successful project completion.

  • Develops marketing opportunities and enhances customer relations in order to expand revenue generating opportunities in the Paint Shop.

  • Collaborates with Environmental Health and Safety Office to assess and mitigate workplace hazards.

  • Ensures staff adheres to all environmental requirements for the proper storage, use and disposition of paint, coatings and solvents.

  • Hires, trains and evaluates staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal apprenticeship painting program.

Six years of commercial painting experience which includes experience leading and directing painting crews.

Must have working knowledge of the advances in techniques used in surface protection and finishing of plaster and structural surfaces, including drywall, wood, stucco, etc.

Ability to read and interpret drawings and demonstrated proficiency of estimating products and materials for finishing.

May require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.

Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop and twist.
