Emory University Engineering Specialist (Maintenance and Welding) in Atlanta, Georgia


Maintains and repairs industrial cage washing equipment at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, main station facility of Emory University. Experience with arc and gas welding required. Knowledge of electrical systems and repair highly desired.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


  • Fabricates, repairs and modifies animal caging. Replaces and maintains chain link fabric wire mesh and chain link fencing.

  • Repairs cage locks, door rollers, and hinges.

  • Fabricates special research equipment, custom cabinetry and shelving.

  • Modifies animal housing to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and schematic drawings.

  • Abides by and monitors staff compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Uses personal protective equipment as required.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of a research facility, research or general equipment or a machine shop.
