Job DescriptionThe Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Test Engineering Division (TEN) is currently seeking an aircraft sustainment researcher for a full-time research faculty position in Atlanta, Georgia. As an aircraft sustainment process researcher, you will be part of team working with the Air Force, Industry, and the Department of Defense (DoD) in order to provide novel approaches to solve complicated aircraft sustainment process challenges. Employing continuous process improvement practices, you will learn the customer's processes, culture, and information technology (IT) limitations in order to recommend solutions that will improve enterprise level aircraft sustainment.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEResearch and analyze processes, organizational culture, and IT infrastructure related to the sustainment and maintenance of commercial and DoD aircraftResearch and define capabilities, processes, and technical gaps as they relate to aircraft readiness and sustainmentCoordinate with Project Director (PD) to develop and specify technical requirements, schedules, and program risk analysisPropose aircraft sustainment and process improvement projects and develop sponsor relationships to build on opportunities and secure future opportunitiesParticipate in technical meetings with sponsors and industry collaborators serving as the subject matter expert for aircraft maintenance and sustainment processesLead small to mid-sized teams and/or process improvement projects relating to aircraft maintenance and sustainmentPerform other duties as assignedTravel Requirements10% - 25% travelEducation & Length of ExperienceResearch Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate IIA Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,A Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, orA Doctoral degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration.Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/AssociateA Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,A Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, orA Doctoral degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, or Business Administration and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.Required Minimum QualificationsConsideration will be given to candidates that do not have a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience performing in roles that align with the responsibilities and requirements defined for this position.4+ years of experience in a commercial or DoD aircraft maintenance and sustainment environmentExperience developing and implementing process improvement plansExperience leading small to mid-sized teams and/or projectsPreferred QualificationsExperience with aircraft production and/or maintenance process managementExperience with business development activitiesFAA maintenance certifications and/or A&P license (Airframe and Power Plant License)Six Sigma Black Belt CertificationProject Management Professional CertificationU.S. Citizenship...
