Power Systems Engineer, Mid

The Challenge:

What if you could use your engineering skills to transform Air Force installations? As an electrical engineer, you understand the power behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to supporting the Air Force in pursuing distributed generation, renewable energy, and microgrid goals. We’re looking for an electrical engineer who can use their skills to perform detailed analysis on electric infrastructure and provide solutions in the areas of distributed generation integration, smart grid implementation, microgrid implementation, and utility investment strategy.

Our team implements energy assurance projects on Air Force installations. That’s why we need you, an electrical engineer, who specializes in electric utility power systems to help us design and develop energy resilient solutions. You’ll analyze electric distribution systems, transmission systems, and utility substations to determine any gaps between the baseline infrastructure and the requirements of mission owners. You’ll directly impact the Air Force mission by ensuring that mission owners have access to energy when they need it. You Have:

-3+ years of experience in the electrical engineering industry

-Experience with the analysis or design of electric distribution systems, transmission systems, or utility substations, including the 4k volts to 500k volts range

-Experience with applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources, and techniques

-Experience with working on complex projects independently or on teams of larger projects involving engineering and analytical studies

-Knowledge of electrical utility power equipment, methods, and developments in engineering

-Ability to interpret and analyze electric single line diagrams

-Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

-Ability to travel to work sites up to 25% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with using load flow or power simulation software

-Experience with developing and analyzing conceptual electrical single-line diagrams

-Experience with renewable energy or distributed generation

-Experience with undergraduate or graduate coursework in electric power systems

-Possession of excellent interpersonal skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MA or MS degree in Engineering or a related field
