General Dynamics Information Technology Mid-Level Network System Administrator in Arlington, Virginia
Customer and Mission: Joint Service Provider (JSP) – The intent of the JSP is to be a customer-focused organization that provides, manages, operates, and maintains IT shared services for the Pentagon and select agencies and organizations in the NCR. By Department of Defense (DoD) Directive, JSP is to be the central source for IT services, and therefore eliminate the requirement for each DoD component to establish, operate and maintain duplicative technology.
This is a great opportunity to affect change by being an integral part of a team of Infrastructure, System, Storage, COOP, Process, Project Management, Cyber Admins and Engineers responsible for providing implementation, monitoring and operations and maintenance of the core enterprise platform services used primarily by the NCR DoD community. You will be providing front seat support with direct impact on the provision of mission operational IT services to tens of thousands of military, government and civilian personnel.
Amongst other mission services the team is responsible for operational server hosting, in which the hardware, software, infrastructure, and maintenance required to host the customer-managed applications are in a consolidated, virtualized environment where JSP manages the server environment up to the operating system and provides operational monitoring and facility support for the Operations (OPS) consolidated server rooms (CSRs). The team also supports an enterprise storage and backup environment, the Pentagon Facilities network, COOP requirements and support to the DISA Organizational Messaging Service (OMS).
Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.
The Mid Level Network System Administrator will serve as the knowledge expert for the experience installing, configuring, and administering Windows Server 2008R2, Server 2012R2,
Server 2016, and Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems. This SME should have at least 1 year experience working with SQL, to include: installing, configuring, maintenance, backups, and restore. The SME shall have working knowledge of network protocols, IP addressing, and virtual computing concepts. This SME shall also provide assistance with the administration of networking equipment.
The candidates must possess knowledge in handling utility systems and technologies in support of the Facilities Services Directorate (FSD) Industrial Control System ( ICS) Network
The Mid Level Network System Administrator will be responsible for :
Demonstrated ability for oral and written communication with the highest levels of
Day to day operations and maintenance which include but not limited to: review of audit logs, creating backups of the data files, maintaining network equipment inventory
Server/ Workstation Security and maintenance updates
SQL Maintenance across multiple systems
Creating New and Validating current and new backups of SQL Systems
Supporting COOP functions of Windows Systems with active SQL databases
Maintain system configuration documentation
Maintain system process and procedure documentation
Maintain patch versions and Department of Defense (DoD) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) levels on all network Servers, workstations, and laptops
Provide technical support and implementation for workstations, servers, and virtual terminals
Provide installation support for network systems applications
Support as needed DoD Information Assurance Risk Management Framework (DIARMF)
As the Mid-Level Network Administrator you will support the following general functions:
Performs systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.
Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.
Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.
Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves operating/hardware system problems.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Contract Requirement:Education: Bachelor's in Science degree in Computer Engineering, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems, or have 3-5 years of documented experience, relevant to this key position
GDIT Requirement:Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
2+ years of related systems engineering experience.
Top Secret clearance required. Secret may be considered.
Meet DoD 8570.01-M/DoD 8140 Certification IAW established mandate.
