POSITION OVERVIEW :
With minimal supervision, independently performs all aspects of electrical Commissioning in the role of Commissioning Agent. Requires experience in reviewing plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods and systems for large-scale electrical infrastructure and data center projects. Individual is also responsible for reviewing the performance of subcontractors to assure contract compliance, the application of accepted construction technology and standards, and the acceptable standardization of materials and supplies as they relate to commissioning. May provide technical guidance to lower-level field engineering personnel. Must have experience writing commissioning scripts and performing commissioning. Attention to detail is paramount.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develops commissioning scripts in coordination with contractors performing construction of large electrical projects.
Through the commissioning process, confirms that the installation of electrical work is in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards and that it operates as designed.
Coordinates commissioning activities and schedules with the performing contractor to ensure that commissioning staff is available and present for appropriate commissioning activities.
Ensures that personnel performing commissioning engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.
Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
Understands schedules and monitors progress. Coordinates commissioning activities so that they are planned within the construction schedule.
Ensures that materials meet specifications and established standards of quality.
Organizes the accumulation of commissioning data and reports for the final commissioning report.
Interfaces with the client and upper-level management.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
4-year degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience, as well as 8 to 12 years of experience in field construction is required. Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices. Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the proven ability for performing in a lead capacity on a project.
