Purpose: The purpose of the Washtenaw County receptionist is to ensure that all calls are answered appropriately, that guests are welcomed and directed appropriately and that the front office operates smoothly.
Answer all incoming telephone calls appropriately and directing them to the right person.
Greet those who walk into the office and direct them to the right person.
Receive mail and distribute mail to proper employees/programs daily.
Make sure out-going mail is picked up by mail carrier.
Record all donations, monetary or material that are received.
Keep the front area, copy area and reception area free of clutter.
Maintain literature rack in reception area.
Light clerical work to include but not limited to making copies, scanning, faxing, posting mail etc.
Maintain copier with paper. Call for repairs as needed.
Maintain fax machine with paper. Call for repairs as needed.
Maintain postage on postage meter.
Maintain confidentiality of all persons served.

High School Diploma or GED plus two years experience
Ability to operate office machines: copy machine, fax machine, postage meter
Computer literate and able to utilize word processing programs and Lotus notes.

Must be able to work independently in carrying out assignments to completion.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be able to adhere to prescribed routines and practices.
Must have good people skills, be friendly, have a cooperative manner and good team spirit.
Must be able to prioritize tasks and work efficiently among a variety of duties.
