Position Summary:Assist economics faculty in the execution of research by gathering and analyzing data, conducting literature searches and reviews, programming, and assisting in the design and conduct of experiments.
Examples of typical work include: grading and general teaching assistance duties.
POSITION: Economics & Public Policy Student Assistant C
The Economics & Public Policy Department is accepting applications for a "student assistant" for the current Fall and Spring semesters. Acceptance into the pool does not guarantee an offer of employment. Please contact the Economics and Public Policy Department Chair for information about the status of your application. The student assistant works under general direction. Examples of typical work include: assist Econ faculty in the execution of research; gathering and analyzing data, conducting literature searches and reviews, programming, and assisting in the design and conduct of experiments.
Duties require considerable knowledge and skills, good written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to carry out tasks independently in a timely manner.
Experience with Word and Excel is required. Experience with STATA a plus and successful completion of ECON 312 and ECON 321 are preferred.
To be eligible for student employment an applicant must:A. Be enrolled in the UAA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment orB. Have been enrolled in the presiding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters andC. Have at least a 2.5 (GPA) or approval from the MAU senior student services officer or his/her designee.D. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the senior student service officer.E. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:Priority given to economics majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
