Inside Sales Director – Account Management

The Inside Sales Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of inside sales professionals towards meeting company objectives in the areas of retention and new sales revenue, growth of base business and market penetration across the entire Elsevier product portfolio.

The Inside Sales Director will report to the VP of Global Inside Sales and is based in Amsterdam.

Key responsibilities:

  • Key link between sales and rest of organisation

  • Senior Elsevier representative in the territory; setting Elsevier up as business partner with key customers/stakeholders in the region

  • Develop and maintains relationships with key decision makers, influencers and partners in territory

  • Execute of account and territory sales & field marketing strategies to deliver total Elsevier value aligned with account business strategies

  • Effectively hire, coach and develop and retain sales talent

  • Lead by example; champion of change (effectively implement and embed global initiatives in region)

  • Fully understand and utilize Elsevier sales tools (e.g. sales compensation plan, pipeline dashboards, etc) to drive sales behaviour

  • Ensures the right level of account management (holistic Elsevier value aligned with customer strategy) through coaching, role-modelling

  • Optimize different sales channels – e.g. both direct, inside sales and use of agents

  • Positive can-do attitude, motivate and inspire team to reach their full potential

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

  • 5 or more years of proven sales leadership and management experience preferably in a complex solutions or B2B environment

  • Understanding Value Based Selling (FranklinCovey methodology)

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and across a matrix organization to achieve group and organizational goals

  • Strong time management, organizational and forecasting skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Executive level communication and presentation skills

  • Understanding and expertise in sales processes and tools (e.g. Saleforce, Tableau)
