UPMC Mental Health Counselor I in Altoona, Pennsylvania
Provide therapeutic interventions to help individuals and families with emotional and behavioral impairment in order to promote improved functioning in their lives. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
Adhere to all Agency policies, procedures and licensure regulations.
Attend inservices, education/skills training, staff meetings and supervisory meetings as requested by supervisor.
Complete timely documentation according to licensure regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
Complete treatment plan updates as required by the payee (e.g. Medical Assistance, Insurance Companies, Managed Care Organizations, etc.)Review all treatment plans with assigned psychiatrist for their input and obtain their signature to authorize treatment.
Complete, under supervision, a treatment plan related to the consumer's mental health status and psychosocial functioning.
Coordinate psychiatric services as needed.
Demonstrate support of the Agency mission and philosophy in the delivery of services.
Evaluate readiness for discharge and complete discharge plan.
Maintain and protect client and agency confidentiality.
Maintain productivity standards as established by supervisor.
Maintain regular contact with other treatment team member's working with the consumer to ensure effective coordination of care.
Monitor consumer's adjustment to medication prescribed by the psychiatrist or treating physician.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions that are essential to carryout the treatment plan.
Provide case management services related to the treatment plan that assists consumers in accessing mental health services as well as meeting other needs such as housing, medical care, food, recreation, education and employment.
Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.
Request protective services from appropriate mental health and community resources for consumers who are in situations where they may harm themselves or others.
Schedule treatment sessions with the client and/or family.
Work to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to external/internal customers.
Bachelors Degree in Human Service field and two years counseling experience (multigenerational preferred.)
A Masters Degree in Psychology or counseling field with a clinical internship will be considered in lieu of the 2 years of counseling experience.
Competency in computer skills in a Windows based environment.
Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
