Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role in the capacity of Senior Research Associate I, Process Development in Gilead Alberta’s Process Development department.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • A Senior Research Associate I within Process Development plans and executes assigned experiments, with increasing independence, to support process development activities and project goals.

  • Execute organic reactions and make key experimental observations to support process development.

  • This individual is expected to become familiar with pilot plant operations and to be able to write master batch records and safety summaries with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrates and applies an advanced level of understanding of project goals and methods.

  • Collaborates with supervisory personnel to develop strategy and tactics.

  • Recommends alternative approaches, researches new methods and techniques, and proactively seeks out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems.

  • Participates in group meetings. Presents results of work, interprets data, and draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work.

  • Always works with safety in mind.

  • Uses good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to provide insight into the processes used to achieve experimental results.

  • Demonstrate skills in data analysis and ability to evaluate quality of data.

  • Works with collaborative communication and problem solving spirit.

Specific Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with BS degree in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • 0+ years of experience with MS degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
