ROLE DESCRIPTION:

National Account Manager, Retail Sales will have direct sales responsibility to maintain, gain and grow several key brands at a key strategic customer, Walgreens. As part of this responsibility, the National Account Manager will be responsible for delivering strategy and tactical initiatives that are aligned with both Business and Customer priorities to achieve customer specific sales and share performance goals. This role will require ongoing identification of growth opportunities and strong collaboration with the customer and internal resources across brand marketing teams, finance, supply chain, category management and shopper marketing. Candidate must possess a high level of comfort with sharing strategic proposals with internal and external leadership teams. This role will be remotely based in Chicago or office based in Minneapolis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement short and long-term strategic and tactical business plans

  • Conduct on-going internal and external account business reviews to measure, evaluate and present sales performance through annual planning process

  • Serves as the voice of the customer to the internal resources to help influence/ define strategies and short-term launch support plans

  • Leads all customer interactions for the business (new items launches, annual plans, logistics)

  • Accountable for brand forecasts, trade spend budget and the point of contact for the customer

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  • 5-10 years of professional experience with at least 4+ years of demonstrated direct sales experience preferably in the consumer-packaged goods industry with increasing account responsibility

  • Advanced knowledge of sales acumen, trade, category management and marketing concepts/ methods

  • Demonstrated ability to execute sales marketing strategies and tactics, as well as assist in the development of the strategies

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong interpersonal / leadership skills

  • Ability to analyze market trends to effectively develop presentations, provide recommendations and forecast

  • Initiative to identify growth drivers and then secure resources to support execution

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree
